Mark Campayno, Director - Biography

Upon graduating summa cum laude from Seton Hill University in 2003, Mark accepted a position in Sterling, Virginia with Loudoun County Public Schools teaching sixth and seventh grade music lab. He split his time between Sterling Middle School and River Bend Middle School.

The following year he was appointed director of the guitar department at River Bend Middle School in Sterling. Within two years he built the program to over two hundred and twenty five seventh and eighth grade guitar students. During that time, Mark also taught after- school strings for four years directing forth through eighth grade students in violin, viola, cello, and double-bass education and performance.

In 2005, Mark was recognized by then Virginia Governor, Mark Warner, for teaching excellence. In his seven years at River Bend Middle School Mark was awarded Teacher of the Year twice and was runner up another two times.

In 2010, Mark moved up to the high school level splitting his time between directing guitar at Heritage High School in Leesburg, and Broad Run High School in Ashburn, Virginia.

Believing in a broad-based approach to musical study, Mark believes strongly in the individual student’s path to musical fulfillment seeing potential in all areas of musical performance for his students. Improvisation, creativity, and structured musical development are musts for up and coming guitarists and musicians.

Mark has more than doubled enrollment at Broad Run High School in Ashburn and is employed full-time there. In his ninth year of teaching, Mark has found his home at Broad Run and describes it as his dream position.

Mark served on the middle school curriculum committee for the Loudoun County Public School’s guitar program in 2008. He also directs the rock/jazz classes at Loudoun County Public School’s Summer in the Arts Program. He is also the Youth Entertainment Coordinator for Loudoun County’s annual YouthFest festival, which showcases teen talent in music.

In addition to his public school teaching, Mark also owns and operates his own performance  school, StudioRock of Northern Virginia in Sterling. Opened in December of 2009, StudioRock has grown into a full-service music school dedicated to preparing students for performance and futher study in music. Providing instruction in all styles and approaches to music education and performance, StudioRock is an outgrowth of Mark’s love of learning, teaching, and performing.
 
Mark’s plans for the future remain consistent with his philosophy of teaching: to use creativity, spontaneity, new ideas, and tried and true teaching methodology to prepare his students for a lifetime of musical enjoyment. In that journey he uses the unlimited daily opportunities available to increase his own knowledge and to move closer towards teaching excellence.

Steven Jannette - Biographysteven jannette

A well-rounded teacher and performer, Steven Jannette has been a fixture on the Northern Virginia music scene for over a decade. He attended Broad Run High School, and has been involved with several ensembles, including the Broad Run Jazz Lab/Ensemble, the Chiles quartet, the NOVA Jazz Ensemble, the Washington Chamber Music Orchestra, heavy metal band Harmonic Violence, Clarksdale Station blues band, and several contemporary music groups.

Over the years, Steve has gained experience with several other instruments including but not limited to guitar, bass and upright bass, trumpet, and harmonica. Steve studied drums and percussion under Dr. Daryll Gilbert for orchestral music, marching, contemporary, jazz and rock music. He has extensive knowledge of a wide array of percussive instruments including timpani, marimba, vibes, congas and more.

Amanda Fish - Biographyamanda fish

Amanda Fish is proud to be a part of the Studio Rock team. She has been involved in music her entire life. She has been studying voice for 12 years, and has always had a passion for performance.

In high school she participated in choir at the district, state, and all-state levels. She continued her education at Elon University, where she earned her Bachelors degree in Vocal Performance. While at Elon, she advanced to the regional level of the National Association of Teachers of Singing Competition and starred in multiple professional productions. Her most memorable roles include Barbarina in The Marriage of Figaro, La Chesca in Gianni Schicchi, Hansel in Hansel and Gretel, and Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz. She has participated in apprenticeship programs through the Signature Theatre, the American Singers Opera Project, and the Crittenden Opera Project.

Amanda enjoys teaching multiple genres, and uses her classical training to provide her students with confidence in their vocal ability and a strong technical music foundation.

Solomia Gorokhivska - Biography

A native of Ukraine, established her musical career as a successful performer and experienced instructor in piano, violin, and voice. She is a laureate of Ukrainian and international competitions in classical and folk music performance.

Mrs. Gorokhivska toured nationally and internationally, including Germany, Russia, Poland, Serbia, China and USA. She started taking piano and violin lessons at the age of five. Solomia earned her Bachelor of Music degree from Ternopil State College of Music (Ukraine) and Master of Music degree at Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine (Kyiv, Ukraine). In addition, she received her Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees in Cultural Studies from National University of “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” (Kyiv, Ukraine).

Currently, Solomia Gorokhivska is completing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Catholic University of America in Washington DC. In America, she made successful performances in Washington DC, Alexandria, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Detroit, New York, Miami, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh. As a soloist, Solomia Gorokhivska performs with Rock Creek Jazz and Gerdan as well as participates in many classical, jazz, folk, and contemporary music projects around the world.

Eddie Anzueto - Biography

Eddie Anzueto is a well-known drummer and songwriter from the Northern Virginia area. He has been teaching percussion full-time for the past eight years. This has been an important addition to his musical career and one that he finds very satisfying. Eddie studied percussion at the Nashville Percussion Institute under Tommy Giapetro and Boo McAfee. He also studied for several years with the legendary Timm Biery. Eddie’s recording session are numerous and include The Noise Boy’s  1991 release “Hard Road Down”, Red Henry’s 1993 release, “Gravity” on New York’s Blackheart record label, and MCA’s 1993 self-titled release, “Modern Yesterday”. Eddie also recorded with, Steve Hines in 2003 on his release of “Zoe”. Eddie takes much pride in his drum instruction. He uses a very effective three-pronged approach focusing on technique, reading, and rudimental applications. Teaching all styles of percussion and drum set technique, Eddie’s philosophical approach stresses the importance of education, practice, and listening skills. Most of all, he stresses that students always remember that the leaning experience must be fun in order for achievement at the highest level possible.

John Gallagher - Biographyjohn gallagher

John Gallagher: We are proud to have John at StudioRock as a bass/guitar instructor. John's teaching style can be summed up as "sit down, tune up, and put on your seat belt! John can quote more songs in 5 minutes than anyone on the planet! John, currently leads his band Raven, which was formed in the late 70's in Newcastle, England. John along with his brother Mark (guitar), and drummer Rob "Wacko" Hunter signed with the independent label, Neat Records. The band laid a foundation for what would become known as thrash metal and never compromised. John possesses an encyclopedic knowledge of all styles of rock history and has many stories of touring and life as a professional touring musician. His bass technique is unique encompassing practically every conceivable technique including, tapping, speed picking, arpeggio mixing, and good old-fashioned walking bass and slapping. John is a collector of unique four, six, eight, and twelve-string basses and a variety of effects. John still writes music and is actively performing and teaching. Virginia Crawley - Biography

Virginia Crawley's love for music performance began at the tender age of
five, when she began accompanying her father on the keyboards during his
guitar practice, picking out the tunes by ear. She began taking piano
lessons at age six and has been playing ever since! Inspired by the legacy
of her great-grandmother, grandmother and her aunt, (all professional music
teachers and performers) she too dreamed of sharing the joy of music
education. Today, Virginia has been playing piano for over 20 years and has
made piano instruction her full-time profession since 2007. She has studied
advanced classical piano as a teen and adult under the guidance of Margaret
Coomber, and also Andy Nguyen, both renowned instructors. Along with
technique, theory, and sight-reading, she sprinkles in fun as a key
ingredient in her instruction method. She occasionally performs as a guest
in recitals in the Northern VA area, and accompanies in churches from
time-to-time. Virginia is a member of the Music Teachers' National
Association and the Suzuki Association of the Americas.
